Seven hurt as KRC rally comes under attack

At least seven persons including a woman were wounded when a protest rally of Kachi Rabita Committee (KRC) came under attack at Maripur road. According to KRC, the workers of Peoples Amn Committee (PAC) and Lyari gangsters were behind this attack. They demanded to the government to take stern action against them.

Following the said incident, many parts of Lyari including Khadda market, Moosa Lane, Ghanchi Para, Machi Miani Market, Jataoi Muhalla and Nayaabad were come under strong grip of violence where heavy gunshots were echoed, which led to suspend all commercial and social activities in the area. Scores of KRC members have tried to march towards CM house but the efforts went in vain because of armed attack.

The protest rally was organised to express resentment against the defunct PAC and the Lyari gangsters, who involved in killing of KRC members. They claimed that the Lyari gangsters have illegally occupied dozens of houses of Kachi community at several parts of Lyari including Jataoi Muhalla, Nayaabad and other parts during recent spree of violence in Lyari!

According to KRC spokesperson Zahid Lohar, the KRC would continue its protests against gangsters’ mafia till the restoration of peace in Lyari, adding that the gangsters attacked on the rally when police failed to stop the protest march towards CM House. Following the armed attack on the rally, over a half dozen of people including a woman were injured. They were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.

The injured included Bilal, Siddique, Khurram, Irfan, Akhter, Rafiq and Farida Bibi. According to the protesters, police allowed the gangsters to attack the KRC rally as heavy contingent of law enforcers was deputed at the spot. Meanwhile, a similar protest organised by KRC was held at Merewether Tower.
